Coordinate, develop and implement access services policies and procedures. Provide expertise to the university community on issues of intellectual property rights and copyright. Supervise support staff associated with circulation, reserve, interlibrary loan, and duplication services. Enrollment in a second master’s degree program is required for tenure; a doctoral program is preferred.

Required: American Library Association accredited master’s degree. Demonstrated experience coordinating, developing and implementing access services (circulation, reserve, stacks management, document delivery and unmediated borrowing) policies and procedures. Evidence of knowledge of copyright and intellectual property rights issues in higher education. Experience: supervising library staff or students; collecting, analyzing and distributing access services reports and data; coordinating assessment of space and preservation needs; with electronic information resources, technologies, and services. Strong commitment to current trends and issues in access services in academic libraries. Demonstrated experience with collaborative, collegial, and project orientated teams. Demonstrated commitment to service orientation. Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Successful campus interview and presentation.
Preferred: Second master’s or doctoral degree in relevant field. Experience with Voyager integrated library system; report writing software (e.g. Brio, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Access). Leadership experience with planning for disaster and emergency preparedness. Experience providing reference service and library instruction. JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Library director, the Archivist has overall administrative responsibility for the Academy Archives. The Archivist works closely with the Curator of Art & Artifacts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Appraises accessions, arranges, and describes manuscripts and archival materials according to contemporary archival principles and standards.

● Establishes processing priorities, processing plans, and policy standards for the arrangement and description of collections.

● Evaluates requests for access to materials from the archives.Schedules appointments, assists and supervises patrons. Answers reference questions relating to the archives.

● Evaluates and processes requests for reproductions of materials held by the archives.

● Develops and maintains electronic databases, indexes, and finding aids.

● Assists staff in institutional exhibit programs.

● Trains and supervises student interns and volunteers.

● Develops grant support in conjunction with the Development Department and Library Director

● Assesses conservation and preservation needs. Performs in-house conservation work and rehouses collections and individual items as needed.

● Monitors archival and records management trends and developments.● Assists with disaster response and recovery planning.

QUALIFICATIONS

●Master’s degree from an American Library Association accredited library school with an archives emphasis and/or an advanced degree in history or related subject area with relevant experience in archives and manuscripts.

● 2-3 years experience processing archival collections, including extensive and complex collections of manuscripts and other special collections materials.

● Demonstrated experience developing processing plans and creating finding aids.

● Demonstrated records management experience.

●Demonstrated familiarity with MARC and Encoded Archival Description (EAD) and familiarity with other national standards for archival description.

● Demonstrated knowledge of archives management technology and access systems.

● Excellent organizational, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.

● Ability to lift 40-lb. boxes, to work on ladders and in locations with dust.

Preferred qualifications:
● B.A. and/or M.A. degree in history or natural history.
● Academy of Certified Archivists (ACA) Accreditation.
● Experience with non-print formats.
● Experience in managing electronic records through the archival lifecycle.
● Familiarity with some or all of the following: Archivists Toolkit,DACS, METS, MODS, ContentDM or other digital asset management/repository systems.
● Practical experience in the record-keeping of natural history institutions and natural history collections.
● Demonstrated experience with contributions to successful grant-writing.

SETTING
The Academy is both a museum and a vibrant research institution focused on biology, systematics, and environmental studies and policy, with a staff of over 150. Instruction/Reference Librarian: King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA

RESPONSIBLITIES: The Director of the University Library is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University Library, serves as a member of the Deans’ Council and reports to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs. Systems and Reference Librarian: Lebanon Valley College, Annville, PA

The Vernon and Doris Bishop Library at Lebanon Valley College seeks a creative, service-oriented librarian who is prepared to provide leadership in the use of technologies to enhance information services for the college community. This 12 month full-time position reports to the Director of the Library. The Systems and Reference Librarian is responsible for the management and maintenance of the online integrated library system; development of information delivery systems; management of electronic information systems including online databases, electronic journal subscriptions, and Web resources; maintenance of the library Web pages; and other related system functions. The successful candidate will provide reference service and bibliographic instruction and assist with collection development and may also participate in some technical services activities including bibliographic control, cataloging, and serials management.

Requirements:

M.L.S. or M.I.S. from an accredited institution. Experience with information technology systems and web development is preferred. Programming skills in ASP.NET, HTML, Perl, and SQL and recent experience in reference and instruction as well as knowledge of electronic database vendor practices are preferred. Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and as a team member in developing services and completing projects; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects; and a strong commitment to service and professional development.
